Reflection#6
I was scrolling through instragram the other day and I realised that our generation is focused mainly on looks. The majority of people does not even look at the caption below the photo, they just like it becouse they like what they see. With time people started to post pictures of themselves on social media. It created a system where the prettier the person is considered to be by a big number of people, the more likes he or she gets. That led to a creation of beauty standards. People want to be seen as beautiful. Therefor, since now it is easy to see who is considered the most beautiful by the number of likes they get, people want to look like the ones whose profiles have the most of them. I feel like becouse of that, nowadays people do not want to bring out what is special/unique in them. They simply try to blend in. People are desperetly trying to fit into one unachivable beauty standard. It makes me sad to think about it becouse what really is beautiful in this world is that everyone is different. We are all beautiful in our own way. Our beauty does not have to be based only on our looks. It can also transpire from within and I think that nowadays it is a very overlooked statement. There is also quite a cheesy quote but I find it to be adequate regarding this topic ,, Be yourself, everyone else is already taken''.
I love the quote, it's funny.
OdpowiedzUsuńI also think about it sometimes when I scroll through Instagram. Publishing photos in social media is tricky, sometimes it can help us express ourselfs and sometimes it can be harmful because of so called beauty standards.
