Does school prepare us for life?

While school has many advantages and surely is servicable, unfortuntely it will not fully prepare us for life. It does give us the knowlage that we will need for college and we do learn the basic rules of interpresonal relations as well as savoir vivre but it does not teach us about important aspects of life that we will need for our future. Contrary to the rules valid in school we do not always need to be obedient. We do not always need to raise our hands when we want to say something. Outside of school we are allowed to express ourselves. Our future employers will not want us to do something only when they ask for it, they will expect us to have our own inovative ideas. We should be allowed to be creative. We schould be allowed to work with an open mind. After all the greatest inventions were not created by people who blindly followed the crowd.

    I completely agree with your view about creativity at school. I believe school is extremely limiting and sets artificial boundaries and rules when it comes to allowing or forbidding something.

Today I saw a video on how to get a job at Google. The video showed some questions you could possibly be asked at a Google interview. The questions were tottaly unpredictable and surprising. Some of them were: ,,How many times a day do a clock's hands overlap?'' or ,,How do you share a pirate treasure?''. As it turns out Google are not only looking for well educated people, they are also trying to find people who can think outside of the box. Do you think £600 per night at the Mandarin Oriental is a good value for money?

 £600 seems like quite an absurd price to pay for a night at a hotel. Many people work incredibly hard to make that amount of money. However at the same time there are people who wouldn't even hesitate before spending a night at the Mandarin Oriental for even more money. The salary that people earn all over the world is very diverse. A difference in worth of each currency all across the world is also quite significant. For example most of Americans wouldn't care much for a dollar when in some other country one dollar is worth quite a lot. Despite that, the fact that £600 per night at a hotel is quite much is undeniable.
